What does the Foundation do?

The Foundation works with communities, schools, workplaces, retirement villages, the hearing sector, and government to improve understanding of Deafness and hearing loss and to promote hearing health across the lifespan.

Our work includes:

  • Hearing screening programmes in schools and workplaces
  • Education about safe listening and hearing health
  • Community outreach programmes for older adults
  • Workshops that support inclusive communication
  • Grants and scholarships for Deaf and hard of hearing New Zealanders

We also advocate for improved access to hearing healthcare and stronger support systems for the Deaf and hard of hearing community.

 

Where does the Foundation operate?

Our head office is based in Auckland, but our programmes and services are delivered across Aotearoa. We work with communities throughout both the North and South Islands.

 

How is the Foundation funded?

The Foundation receives no government funding for our core work. Our programmes are made possible through the generosity of donors, supporters, partners, and grant providers who help fund specific initiatives.

When will I receive my tax receipt?

For donations made by phone or post, tax receipts are typically issued within seven working days.  For online donations, receipts are sent by email on the same day. Regular donors receive an annual tax receipt in early April.
