Make a real difference in your community
Volunteers play an important role in helping the Deaf & Hard of Hearing Foundation deliver programmes that improve hearing health and support communities across Aotearoa.
We are currently looking for friendly, reliable volunteers to support our school hearing screenings and retirement village workshops in the Christchurch, Rotorua, and Bay of Plenty regions. If you enjoy helping others and working alongside a passionate team, volunteering with us can be a rewarding way to contribute.

School Hearing Screening Support
Volunteers assist during school visits delivering hearing checks and safe listening education. Tasks include setup, helping students complete forms, coordinating with staff, and supporting smooth delivery.
Supporting Retirement Village Outreach
Volunteers support outreach sessions in retirement communities. Tasks include welcoming residents, assisting during activities, helping coordinate hearing screenings, and supporting setup and pack down.
Who we're looking for
We welcome volunteers who are:
- Friendly, organised, and approachable
- Confident communicating with people of different ages
- Comfortable using basic technology such as tablets
- Available during school hours or daytime community events
Most importantly, we are looking for people who are passionate about supporting others and contributing to their community.

Requirements
To volunteer with us, you will need to:
- Be eligible to work in New Zealand
- Have access to your own transport, as some travel is required
- Complete and pass a Police clearance
