Grants & Scholarships

Financial support can make a meaningful difference when accessing hearing support, education, or opportunities to contribute to the Deaf and hard of hearing community. Through the NFD Trust, we offer a range of grants and scholarships to support New Zealanders who are Deaf or hard of hearing, as well as individuals working within the sector. Community Fund

Provides support for projects and activities that directly benefit New Zealanders who are Deaf or hard of hearing. It can help fund short-term projects, equipment, materials, capacity building, and innovative ideas that create practical community impact.

Manawatu Hearing Aid Grant

Helps subsidise the cost of hearing aids for eligible residents in the Manawatu region. Grants of up to $500 are paid directly to the nominated audiology provider and can be used alongside other available subsidies.

Education Scholarship

Supports Deaf and hard of hearing learners, including people with APD, with tertiary study costs at recognised post-secondary institutions. Funding can help with course fees, books, interpreters, note-takers, extra tuition, and other study-related support.

Training & Development Scholarship

Helps fund training and development that benefits Deaf and hard of hearing people. It supports Deaf and hard of hearing applicants in their own learning and career goals.

Noonan Bequest

Supports the education and development of Deaf and hard of hearing children and young people in Canterbury. Funding can contribute to educational, social, recreational, health, employment, and service-related needs that help young people thrive.

Hearing Aid Fund

Many of our community members have reached out to share their heartbreaking stories about their struggles to afford hearing aids. Thanks to those who donated to the Hearing Aid Fund, we were able to gift $500 grants to some very grateful recipients.

For the benefit of residents in the Manawatu region which includes Palmerston North City Council and the Manawatu District Council areas of jurisdiction.
