The National Foundation for Deaf and Hard of Hearing (NFDHH), alongside its Board and member organisations, has developed the first draft of a National Hearing Health Strategy for Aotearoa New Zealand. It is informed by sector and community expertise and lived experience.
While NFDHH has initiated this and held the pen, we do not seek control or ownership of it. We envisage the final strategy to be co-designed with you – our community, sector, and stakeholders. So, we present this as a rough draft for your consideration, and hope you will work with us to craft a strategy that we can all be proud of.
This draft strategy marks a major step toward making hearing health a national priority. We now invite the wider community and stakeholders to help shape the final strategy.

Read a short executive summary outlining our strategy, and how it could improve hearing health across Aotearoa New Zealand.
We are looking for a high-level “temperature check” from our community and stakeholders. Your response will help us decide whether we are ready for the next stage of consultation.

Dive into the full draft to see the proposed approach, priorities, and actions of prevention and support.
Please share this with your networks. We want to hear from as many people as possible to ensure this strategy reflects the needs of all New Zealanders.
